THE
WOMAN OF REVELATION 12
THE
CHURCH IN THE WILDERNESS
THE
WALDENSES 2
"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their
testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." Revelation 12:11
The
youth who received ordination to the sacred office saw before them, not the prospect of earthly wealth and glory, but a life of toil and danger, and possibly a martyr's fate. The missionaries went out two and two, as Jesus sent forth His disciples.

With each young man was usually associated a man of age and experience, the youth being under the guidance of his companion, who was held responsible for his training, and whose instruction he was required to heed. These
co laborers were not always together, but often met for prayer and counsel, thus strengthening each other in the faith.

Even
though the Truth of God's Word could not be taught or preached openly; it could
sometimes sung. Missionary minstrels could thus travel and in their songs,
minister to those in darkness.

The Waldenses had sacrificed their worldly prosperity for the truth's sake, and with persevering patience they toiled for their bread. Every spot of tillable land among the mountains was carefully improved; the valleys and the less fertile hillsides were made to yield their increase. Economy and severe self-denial formed a part of the education which the children received as their only legacy. They were taught that God designs life to be a discipline, and that their wants could be supplied only by personal labor, by forethought, care, and faith.
